WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
1981 RUGGED EAST COAST ROOTS
The Wild Things journey began in 1981, when ITS two founders, Marie Meunier and John Bouchard, accomplished mountaineers, created their own line of lightweight, superior gear out of dissatisfaction with available products. Marie and John chose New Hampshire to set up shop. The rugged natural environment, big blizzards, and Mount Washington provided the perfect testing ground for new products, and there was no shortage of skilled climbers to test them. From these surroundings, Wild Things pioneered several product firsts including the high-altitude one piece suit and haul bag.
In the early 2000’s, Wild Things' reputation for uncommon, lightweight, tough gear caught the attention of U.S. Special Forces, and began making bespoke, made-to-order kits for individual units for the U.S. Military.
The Denali Jacket was first introduced to the market in 1983 as a jacket that combines waterproofing and heat retention. It is a synonymous item of the brand that contributed greatly to appealing the innovation and functionality of the wild things brand. in the 90’s the jacket’s silhouette became popular as a fashion item especially in japan.
Today, Japanese retailer/label, nonnative, and wild things [JAPAN] collaborate editing the Denali jacket with some updated features as the EXPLORER PUFF JUMPER "DENALI" NYLON TUSSER WITH eVENT® 3L.
“TO DEFEND A NATION OR TO SCALE A MOUNTAIN YOU MUST HAVE A CAUSE. SO WHAT'S OURS? TO MAKE A PRODUCT AS BRAVE AS THE PEOPLE WHO WEAR IT.” -WILD THINGS
